I am Cyndi Burnett Principal - Tumuaki of Haast School.
BEd, OnlineTchnLn, MEd

This school is a unique place with a committed staff, Board of Trustees and community all with the common goal of, 'Growing Individuals for the Future'. Te Whakatipu Tangata mo Nga Mahi Ake!

We aim to improve outcomes for every child who walks through our gate. We live by our school values of:

When I'm not at Haast School I like to spend time on the beach at Hannah’s Clearing, spending time with friends and travelling. I have a daughter who is currently working winter seasons in Ski Patrol.

I recently completed a yoga instructor course, which has strengthened the goal - ‘support student wellbeing and learning’.

Before moving to Haast I taught 20 years in Queenstown and five wonderful years of traveling and teaching. Starting with South Korea, then International Baccalaureate schools in Thailand and Indonesia.

I am Jess Kennedy. I am a proud West Coaster and love living the dream in Haast with my partner Jimi.

I have a Bachelor of Teaching & Learning and I am lucky to be fulfilling my passion in this beautiful environment at our amazing kura.

I absolutely love being a teacher. I thrive on building a love of learning, and a vibrant community in my classroom for tamariki to become purposeful and motivated lifelong learners.

I believe that relationship building creates a foundation to develop the trust and respect of our tamariki, which creates learning and engagement.

I am passionate about teaching and learning Te Reo and creating a collaborative, engaging and enjoyable classroom.

Out of school I enjoy:
